Healthy Habits Post Thanksigving
While there has certainly been no miscounting of all the things I have been thankful for over the break, I will say that I may have miscounted the number of times I went for 2nds over this thanksgivings spread of dynamite food and the multiple times I couldn’t say no to the sugar.
If your passionate about health and nutrition as much as I am then you probably detest when you let yourself lose any amount of control over these special occasions. And if you’ve learned like I have the ultimate gift of living a healthy lifestyle then you’ve probably also learned that your body doesn’t adjust as well to gluttony and overindulgence as when you were a kid.
Whether or not you tripped up your diet or ate too much sugar or processed foods over this break, here are a few of my favorite detox and metabolism boosting habits that I personally formed over the years to keep a healthy, happy, tummy.
Bonus: with absolute consistency comes …. much more then just a few pounds shredded.
Enjoy! ☺
1. Honey, Cinnamon, and Lemon Tea in the morning – if you have heard of the amazing properties that come with these three mega goods then you have got to try them together! As far as measurements I suggest adjusting to your own taste for each use but personally this is the first thing I do most mornings.
Boil hot water
Slice lemon ( a l w a y s have lemons in your house )
Add x amount of honey to a cup
squeeze x amount of lemon juice in cup
poor hot water over and stir
add +- tsp and stir to drink. ( keep spoon to stir in cinnamon as it does not dissolve or incorporate well )
L E M O N S : lemons do have Vit C and much more but one of the main properties of lemons that we like today are the polyphenols that help to break down lipids (which build up to be fat molecules) and its presence helps to keep lipid build up from fatty foods.
C I N N A M O N : the best thing about cinnamon is its anti-inflammatory properties. If you didn’t know, sugar is one of the major substances that cause inflammation in the body and its EVERYWHERE and in almost everything these days. Cinnamon helps with this mega problem of inflammation and also is a huge metabolism booster.
H O N E Y : natural energy booster being a carb of 17 grams per tablespoon, can deliver quickly to boost blood sugar, has many antioxidants that will help prevent cell damage and helps to bring Calcium into the body.
These are three things that you should definitely be using in your routines..
2. A Spoonful of Coconut Oil Helps Everything in Life
Since there are so many different versions of lists of all the things coconut oil can do for you I won’t add to it except to say I use this in many ways but one quick thing I do occasionally take a spoonful in my mouth and swish around for as little as 10 minutes and up to 20 minutes while I dink around the kitchen prepping food or reading e-mails.
This has been said to be a way to slowly pull toxins from your body. I don’t exactly try to do the “oil pulling” that has been around for a while but I know it absolutely have good benefits for my mouth especially and its super easy for me to add to my habit. With all its antibacterial properties and other amazing benefits, I feel great about taking care of myself this way. I have even noticed when using it consistently that it helps to whiten my teeth!
3. P R O B I O T I C: super easy to take and will keep your stomach bacteria in good health. I will use this especially after consuming more sugar then I should be. Sugar one of the main things that kills your good gut bacteria which will cause all kinds of stomach ailments due to lack of that good bacteria that helps with the different break down processes of what comes through your digestive system.
4. W A T E R : a proper water balance will keep your bodies different systems running well. While I am good some days and terrible others about my water consumption, I constantly try to have a water bottle with me wherever I go.
5. A P P L E C I D E R V I N E G A R : anti-inflammatory, antioxidants, antibacterial, and has been known to improve insulin sensitivity and significantly lowers blood glucose responses.
I suggest taking this with some water as it is very acidic and hard on your teeth. Personally I have come to find that if I take a bite out of an apple right after downing some ACV, the sting goes away much quicker.
6. B A K I N G S O D A : this one is great heartburn and indigestion. I personally have used this one many times when having heartburn and it works instantly.
On another note, I once talked with a man who was in his late 60’s who was completely adamant about baking soda being a miracle substance. He went on to tell me about a guy in France who had helped cure a couple patients with cancer by a few different factors including consuming baking soda daily. This man told me that after he had read about this guys work he had decidedly started taking one tsp of baking soda in 8 oz of water every single day for the rest of his life and for the past 30 years has been completely free of any colds, flus, stomach ailments, arthritis, skin problems, etc. This man had apparently had no problems whatsoever and was in complete good health for 30 years. Not even a sore throat! I took that to heart and started reading about it and now do occasional add this into my regime.
So there you have my top favorite healthy habits! Hope it my give you some good ideas to get back on track..
Best Wishes
