Happy National Dog Day!

It is National Dog Day! What better way to celebrate than to enjoy some outside time with your furry best friend. Here are a few ideas to get both you and your doggo outside today!

  1. Hiking – Especially here in the PNW, people love to hike! So go enjoy the views with your dog! Your dog will love smelling new smells and seeing new views! It is known that hiking actually reduced your dogs stress levels.
  2. Biking – Did you know that there are such things as dog bike leashes? So you can ride your bike and exercise your dog at the same time! The leashes are designed so that your dog can’t get too close to your bike tires!
  3. Paddle Boarding – This is a new trend for humans AND dogs! So next trip to the lake, bring your dog to join your paddle boarding adventures!
  4. Stair Climbing – Stair climbing is a great exercise for you and your dog! It works muscles that you wouldn’t usually use in just running or walking. And another thing that is great about stair climbing, is that if the weather is bad, stay inside and climb your stairs at home!
  5.  Yoga (Doga) – Did you know that there is now such a thing as “Doga”? There are places that put on Dog Yoga classes so you can bring your furry companion to yoga class with you! Literally the Downward Facing Dog!
  6.  Swimming – Go celebrate the sunshiny day at the lake with your pup! Bring a tennis ball, play fetch, and let them cool down in the water as well. Don’t forget their life vest!
  7.  Running / Walking – ALWAYS check the temperature of the cement before walking your dog. People forget how sensitive dogs paws are and they burn easily on the hot cement. If it is cool enough to take your dog on a walk, it is a great bonding experience and a great boost in both your metabolisms!

Today is your dogs day! So celebrate however you think they will best enjoy it. Happy National Dog Day to all of our furry friends out there!
