Millennials Are Taking Over!
What generation is impressing the real estate market the most today? The answer is millennials according to the 2018 Home Buyer and Seller Generational Trends study. Millennials are accounted for 36% of home purchases. Followed by the Baby Boomers at 32%, Generation Xers at 26%, and the Silent Generation at 6%.
Millennials have realized the upturn in the economy and have tried to get smarter with their money. Instead of wasting money on monthly rent, 86% of millennials believe that buying a home right now is a very good financial decision and investment. Realtors throughout the country have noticed a rise in buyer interest from young adults over the past year. This causes a shortage of homes for sale, causing prices of homes to rise, which ends in creating competition and buyers needing to be smart with their money/save more in order to buy (put more money down or to be qualified for more).
90% of millenials are most likely to purchase/list a home with the help of a Realtor. 75% of that 90% believe that Realtors will help them educate themselves on the home buying/listing process.
“Especially in today’s fast-moving housing market, consumers of all ages want a Realtor to guide them through the exhilarating, yet nerve-wracking experience of buying or selling a home,” says NAR President Elizabeth Mendenhall.
